Skiparadies Sudelfeld
Straddling the ridge between Bayrischzell and Oberaudorf, the Skiparadies Sudelfeld is one of the largest contiguous ski areas in Germany — 31 kilometres of pistes fanning across the Wendelstein massif, barely 80 kilometres from Munich's city limits.
On the Slopes
Ultra-modern 8-seater and 6-seater chairlifts whisk skiers and snowboarders of all abilities up the mountain quickly, with runs graded from gentle blues for beginners to satisfying reds that drop steeply towards the valley. Several dedicated children's areas and a professional ski and snowboard school make this a genuinely family-friendly arena.
The ski area is directly accessible from Bayrischzell by a free ski shuttle — so you can be carving fresh corduroy within minutes of leaving your hotel door.
Off the Piste
When the lifts stop, rustic alpine huts and mountain inns serve culinary delights on sunny terraces — think hearty Brotzeit platters, steaming Gulaschsuppe and cold Bavarian lager with the entire Mangfallgebirge spread before you.
In summer the same lifts pivot to serve mountain bikers and hikers, making Sudelfeld a four-season destination rather than a single-purpose ski resort.
Getting There
Bayrischzell is served by the Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB) train from Munich Ostbahnhof — a scenic 90-minute ride that drops you steps from the ski bus stop. No car required, and no Munich traffic to battle on a powder day.
The ski area headquarters are at Kirchplatz 2, 83735 Bayrischzell; contact info@sudelfeld.de for current lift pass prices and snow reports.
