Sky Tower, Auckland CBD
The Sky Tower has anchored Auckland's skyline for over 25 years and remains the city's single most arresting landmark — a needle of steel and glass you can see from almost everywhere in the CBD. Step onto the glass-floor observation deck and feel the city fall away beneath your feet.
The View & the Thrill
The main observation deck sits 220 metres above ground, with wide glass panels framing jaw-dropping panoramas of Auckland's rooftops, the Waitematā Harbour, and distant volcanic hills. The west-facing lookout is the sweet spot for golden-hour light over the water.
For adrenaline seekers, the SkyJump launches you from 192 metres above ground on a controlled cable descent past the tower's windows, while the SkyWalk lets you circle the open outer platform with nothing but a harness between you and the city below.
Dining in the Sky
Orbit, the revolving restaurant on levels 52–53, completes a full rotation roughly every hour, meaning your harbour view slowly swaps for a volcanic-cone panorama mid-meal — a genuinely theatrical way to eat.
The tower is also part of the SkyCity complex, so you can move seamlessly from the observation deck to the casino floor or Federal Street's restaurant strip without stepping outside.
