Praia do Farol, Ilha do Farol
Rated the most perfect beach in Brazil by the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) on criteria of water purity, sand quality and landscape, Praia do Farol sits on a protected island and rewards the effort of getting there with blinding white sand and water so clear it reads like liquid glass. The exclusivity is baked in: you can only arrive by boat, and your time on shore is capped at 45 m
Why It Tops Every List
Praia do Farol's credentials are not hype. INPE scientists ranked it the single most perfect beach in Brazil, citing the purity of its water, the quality of its fine white sand, and the drama of the surrounding landscape — a verdict that still holds up when you step off the boat and see it for yourself.
Because it is a protected area managed by the Brazilian Navy, visitor numbers are tightly controlled. No food or drinks may be brought onto the beach, which keeps it immaculate and the wildlife undisturbed. That restraint is exactly what makes it feel like a private paradise even on a busy summer weekend.
Getting There & What to Expect
The only way to reach Praia do Farol is by booking a boat tour departing from Praia dos Anjos. Most tours last three to four hours and include stops for swimming, snorkeling, and a pass by the Gruta Azul sea cave — so the journey itself is half the experience.
On the right-hand side of the beach (facing the sea) you will find the Gruta do Amor, a sea grotto locals say has the power to make love eternal. Whether or not you believe the legend, it provides a spectacular backdrop for photos with Arraial's electric-blue ocean behind you.
