A Market Born from Community

Established as a joint effort between the Dubai Police General Command and Dubai Municipality, the market was created to regulate and supervise informal flea markets across labourers' accommodation areas, turning them into a safe, supervised and vibrant public space.

Workers from Indian, Bangladeshi, Nepali, Sri Lankan and East African backgrounds all gather here, united by incredible value and a shared sense of belonging. The air fills with the scent of aromatic spices wafting from food stalls, and sellers of different nationalities call out their deals in a lively multilingual chorus.

What to Eat and Buy

The food stalls offer low-cost meals and discounted groceries that fit the tightest of budgets — expect biryani for around AED 6 a plate, fresh fruit platters for AED 1 and an extraordinary cold glass of jaam-e-sheeren, a rose-and-basil-seed drink beloved across South Asia.

Beyond food, stalls sell everything from mobile phone accessories and textiles to household goods at prices you simply won't find in Dubai's malls. Bargaining is expected and warmly received.

The market truly comes alive as the evening descends, transforming into a lively hub of laughter and stories exchanged between buyers and sellers. Come on a Thursday or Friday evening for the biggest crowd and the most atmospheric experience.
