Porto di Conca dei Marini
The port of Conca dei Marini is a small crescent of water at the foot of the village, reached by descending a flight of steps that threads down through the Borgo Marinaro — past laundry lines and potted geraniums — before the sea opens up in front of you. It is quieter than its neighbors, and older than most visitors imagine.
For centuries this was a working harbor: trading ships, then tuna nets, then the slow withdrawal of industry until the tonnara closed in 1956. What remains is a dock, a strip of beach, and the particular stillness of a place that was once essential and is now simply itself.

People who come back tend to time the descent for early morning, before the tour boats appear on the water. The steps through the Borgo Marinaro are the thing — shadowed, steep, and lined with the actual houses of the village. The Cappella della Madonna della Neve, cut into the rock at the water's edge, is easy to miss and worth pausing at.
The story behind Porto di Conca dei Marini
The site's origins are traced to an Etruscan settlement called Cossa; the Romans took it in 272 BC. By the early Middle Ages it had become a trading outpost of the Republic of Amalfi, and at its peak the inhabitants of Conca dei Marini owned 27 large galleons. In 1543 Turkish pirates sacked the port, an event local tradition claims the priest Don Gaetano Amodio — who died in 1772 — had foreseen.
Trade continued in diminished form into the 19th century. From around 1700, the port also ran a tonnara, the only tuna fishery on the entire Amalfi Coast, which operated until 1956. The watch tower at Capo di Conca, built in 1563 in response to the pirate threat, stands a short distance away and tells much the same story of a coast that once had to defend itself.
Good to know
Reach Conca dei Marini by SITA bus from Amalfi (about 6 km) or, in summer, by ferry from Salerno. The port itself is free to access. Pair the visit with Grotta dello Smeraldo nearby, which has its own entrance and rowboat ride. Avoid August if you want the steps to yourself.
Summer runs hot and dry, with August averaging around 28°C — the water is warm but the port fills with visitors. Spring and early autumn give you mild temperatures and calmer seas. Winter is cooler and considerably wetter, with the steps and rocks potentially slippery after rain, though the harbor empties out almost entirely.

Great beach club, not too crowded. Reasonable prices - €12 per chair and €6 for an umbrella. It’s not crowded so that was pleasant. The water is very clear and there’s a diving platform you jump off of. There’s no beach though it’s more of a ledge into the ocean so don’t expect sand. Also, the water is deep so be prepared to not touch the ground. The water does get a bit choppy because of the boats but that’s everywhere. Also, the food there is affordable as well - they have sandwiches and salads under €10. They just don’t have much options (but we weren’t looking for a dining experience so we didn’t care about that. Parking is €5 an hour or €30 a day. But be aware they charge you for a full hour so we got there at 12:30 and left at 3:30 but they charge you as if you got there at 12 and left at 4. Service was very good throughout from the parking attendants to the servers, everyone was very nice and pleasant to talk to. The one thing that could be improved though is the bathroom situation.
Perfect place for spending a hot summer day, friendly staff, reasonable prices and an astonishing private beach. Overall it can get expensive, but considering that we were 4 people and with a car parking, 84 eur for a day pass with beds and umbrelas it isn't that bad. Once inside you can eat and drink your own stuff and prices are reasonable. I would suggest going early as they close at 17:30, and don't miss going up to the tower, the views from up there are amazing!
great experience at the beach club! loved the valet parking for our car and the jeep ride to the bottom of the hill! prices at the bar / restaurant were super reasonable. views were stunning and we loved the diving board and areas to jump in the water. definitely recommend coming here if you’re in the area!
We arrived at the private beach at a cost of 17 euros per person, including a chair and umbrella. The service includes transportation from the apartment to the nearby town and back. You can get a bottle of water and a towel at an additional nominal cost. Instead of a restaurant, we just had a fruit plate and a smoothie and it was great. The prices are reasonable. The service is kind. The place is simply lovely and worth the cost!! There is also a small pool. In my opinion less suitable for small children.
Best way to get some solitude and amazing area to swim. This place is awesome for spending the day on the Amalfi coast. You absolutely will NOT regret spending your day here. It’s sooo nice and comfy and relaxing and cool and way better than any other Instagram beach, this is a hidden gem.
