Furore Fjord (Praiano side)
From the SS163, you look down and the road simply ends at a void — a crack in the limestone where two cliffs have pulled apart and the sea has pushed in. This is the Fiordo di Furore on its Praiano side: a gorge whose vertical walls rise nearly 200 metres above a pebble beach barely 25 metres long. The arch of the road bridge hangs 30 metres overhead, and from down at water level it frames a thin rectangle of sky.
Getting there is the commitment. Around 200 steps descend from the coastal highway, and sunlight only finds the beach between 11:00 and 14:30 — outside that window the gorge sits in deep shade. A small bar at the back of the cove sells fruit and cold drinks, and sun-beds run €15 each.

People who come back tend to catch the SITA #5070 bus early, walk down before the steps get crowded, and leave by mid-afternoon. The practical trick everyone mentions: parking is essentially impossible, so if you drive, book lunch at Euroconca or La Locanda del Fiordo and use their lot. The bus, at roughly €2 each way, is simply the easier choice.
The story behind Furore Fjord (Praiano side)
Furore's roots are Roman, and through the medieval period it functioned as an extramenia hamlet of Amalfi — a settlement outside the city walls, peripheral but connected to the duchy's trade networks. When the catasto carolino was compiled in 1752, the village was recorded as tiny, nearly landless, and sparsely inhabited.
The fjord's industrial chapter came a century or so earlier, in the 1600s, when the cold, fast-moving waters of the Schiato torrent drove paper mills and flour mills here, feeding the wider Amalfi paper-making tradition. Paper, limestone, and agricultural goods moved out through the cove. Then, in 1948, Roberto Rossellini filmed L'Amore in the gorge with Anna Magnani — who loved the place enough to keep a villa here, Villa della Storta, now a small museum in her memory.

SITA bus #5070 (Sorrento–Amalfi corridor) stops at the bridge; frequency runs every 30–60 minutes. The cove is free, open around the clock, but only in sunlight 11:00–14:30. Driving means committing to a restaurant lunch — street parking does not exist here.
June through September brings the most reliable conditions: air temperatures around 28°C, sea temperatures climbing to 25–26°C by August, and as few as four rainy days a month. Spring and autumn are cooler but workable for the descent; November turns wet, averaging 192 mm of rain across 15 days, and the gorge in shade and drizzle is a different proposition entirely.

I’d go back there anytime! I have visited that swimming spot multiple times during my road trips. It’s so peaceful and a real local favourite. All you need are some snacks and a few alcohol-free drinks to swim, sunbathe, and relax. You can only get there if you drive. However, there is absolutely no parking, and the roads are so tiny that you can’t even park on the side of the road. I actually had to park my car almost in a ditch! 🤣🤣 But it was well worth it. 😍 There’s a nice little restaurant nearby that serves lovely coffee, if you don't mind a short walk along the main road. One small request: please respect nature if you end up going there. It is still untouched by mass tourism due to its hidden location.
It's a pretty solid beach, but I wouldn't plan too much around it. If there's been stormy weather in the last few days the water becomes muddy and smelly. Go only if the weather has been nice for multiple days. Nice for a few cool photos, but nothing special. There is a small bar nearby with toilets (without locks in the doors 😂)
Quite hard to find a parking nearby (like everywhere on the coast). You will need to look on the roadside. Beach is beautiful, water colder than average (very refreshing!), rocky beach. Easy walk on the stairs from the bridge .
Gorgeous spot and a must-see on the Amalfi coast. Best seen by land as you can also enjoy the beach and surrounding area. Trails nearby, as well as a little refreshment store right at the back of the beach.
I was lucky we were staying at the villa just 2 minutes walk from this beautiful bridge (La Perla di nettuno, ) I was walking there every day , so peaceful place, lots of people there sunbathing but dont worry if its over crowded lots of people coming for a short stay especially the ones coming from far away, but if you go their by bus make sure have plenty of time because some times need to wait 2 hours to get the bus, most buses are full and not stopping ,
