Belvedere di Praiano
Praiano faces west, and the whole village knows it. Praiano's position on this stretch of coast was shaped by the Amalfi Republic, whose doges used the village as a summer residence during the republic's medieval peak. The viewpoints that define the village today are less built things than inherited ones — terraces and promontories that generations of residents simply kept clear, because the view was too useful to obscure.
The western exposure that makes this belvedere work is the same reason Praiano developed the rhythms it has: the afternoon light dictates when people walk, when they eat, and when the village feels most alive. That rhythm has outlasted every other change the coast has seen.

SITA buses connect Praiano to Positano, Amalfi, and points beyond; bus tickets (roughly €10–12) are sold at local tabacchi. Ferries don't serve Praiano directly. The terrain is steep and stepped throughout the village, so wear shoes with grip. May and September offer the best balance of weather and elbow room.
Summer days push into the high twenties Celsius, with July reliably dry and sunny. Spring and early autumn — particularly May and September — bring comfortable temperatures and far fewer visitors. Winter is mild but quiet, with January highs around 12°C.
