From the Belvedere di San Lazzaro, reached by a short walk left from the Convento di Santa Rosa and down a gentle slope of about a hundred metres, the Amalfi Coast arranges itself in front of you without asking anything in return. The water sits far below, the kind of blue that shifts depending on the hour, and the white cube houses of Conca dei Marini's lower village appear almost to float at the waterline.
Conca occupies a particular position on the SS 163 — between Positano and Amalfi, 400 metres above its own marina — and this viewpoint gives you the full geometry of that situation: the steep limestone headland of Capo di Conca to one side, the Vallone di Conca cutting back into the mountains, and the bay below where, until a century ago, the highest concentration of fishing boats on the entire coast was moored.

Conca dei Marini's roots run back to Roman times, when the settlement was known as Cossa. It grew into a naval outpost of the Amalfi Republic, whose sailors here owned 27 large galleons — a fleet that made this small cliff-side village a genuine maritime force. The nearby Torre del Capo di Conca was raised in 1563 specifically to watch for Saracen pirate raids, a persistent threat along this stretch of coast.
The viewpoint itself is tied to the Convento di Santa Rosa, a fourteenth-century foundation that gave the world the sfogliatella pastry — first made by its nuns in the seventeenth century. The Belvedere di San Lazzaro sits in the convent's orbit, accessed via its approach road, and has long served as the natural place to pause and read the landscape that made Conca's sailors so difficult to surprise.

Get here on the SITA bus from Amalfi or Positano — the nearest stop is Tovere, one minute's walk. From Naples by car it's around 53 minutes. The walk from the Convento di Santa Rosa is the most natural approach. Spring and early autumn offer the easiest conditions: warm, clear, and quieter.
July and August are hot and reliably dry — temperatures push above 30°C and rainfall nearly disappears — but the road below gets heavy with traffic. September and October bring milder air and a quieter coast. November turns wet, and winter mornings can be cold enough for a proper jacket, though snowfall is rare and brief.

We stayed in one of the two room suites (family of three) and it was absolutely perfect. There was a large entry way, bathroom, a bedroom with two twin beds & a separate bedroom with door. Both bedrooms opened up onto a large covered terrace with arranged with two separate sitting areas and a dining area. We did breakfast as part of our booking and it was delicious- lots of pastries, warm foods, fruits, cheeses, cereal that changed every morning. One night we ate in the dining room with the selected set dinner menu, I really appreciated that there were different options for each course and that our daughter could order something ala carte. The maître D made a great wine recommendation for a local winery that we visited the following day. Another night we ordered some pizzas as room service to enjoy on our balcony. The highlight of this spot is of course the pool (phenomenal view and actually deep on one end) and the sea access. We had so much fun jumping in. Bring goggles to get nice looks at all the little fish & keep eyes open for starfish on the bottom. The staff was so friendly and on one of our treks out for dinner we were recognized and greeted. Also if you like getting out of a resort to experience local food there were several really good spots about a 20 minute hike out so you’re not completely isolated. In terms of other services there’s a bus stop right by the hotel. And they offer a shuttle service (for a fee) into & out of Amalfi that you can arrange from the front desk.
Beautiful views, wonderful pool area, and a good location. Halfway between Amalfi city center and Positano. Most comments on here are about having trouble finding transportation to and fro. We had zero issue....a number of cool restaurants just up the hill and they all provide pickup and drop-off service (a nod to Nino!). Also, if you'd like to meet the most gracious man as a restaurant host, look no farther. He is here at breakfast and again at dinner wearing his formal jacket. (He leaves during the day on his moped and gets some rest, which he deserves). Highly recommend if you arent concerned about the rooms being a little outdated.
Hotel too far removed from center. Local hotel bus stops at 16.40 hrs. Public buses do not stop at stop sign outside hotel as they are always full Trying to get a public bus in Amalfie you have to queue for an hour. Better to have a hotel in Amalfie then you have access to all areas by boat. The hotel is dated in its decor. This hotel is operated and overpriced
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Belvedere for 10 days celebrating our 50th Anniversary and it was spectacular. We were greeted with Champagne from the friendly staff, who went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Thank you for our beautiful balcony room with an amazing view of the coast. The shuttle bus was a godsend as taxis were very expensive the bus service was also good a bit confusing but on the plus the stop was outside the Hotel, ideal for people who don’t want to walk a distance. We especially appreciated the service and we cannot recommend the Belvedere Hotel enough for anyone seeking a romantic getaway or special occasion. The stunning location, incredible staff especially Thomass love you 😍 who made our Anniversary trip to the Amalfi Coast a dream come true. Thank you so much.
The food, cleaning service, restaurant, bar and breakfast staff, view, sea, pool, the cat of the pool, pool staff, room ambiance and interiors, and car parking are amazing. So, thank you. Come if you want to spend your days in peace.
