Museo del Vino de Yecla
Yecla's DO wine region punches well above its weight, and this dedicated museum inside a restored 19th-century bodega tells the whole story — from Roman amphorae to modern barrel halls. A single visit reframes every glass of Monastrell you'll ever drink.
A Region Poured into One Building
The museum traces Yecla's winemaking heritage across centuries, displaying original pressing equipment, ceramic vessels and archival photographs that chart the town's transformation into one of Spain's most distinctive wine appellations.
Monastrell — known elsewhere as Mourvèdre — is the undisputed star grape here, thriving in Yecla's extreme continental climate. Panels explain how the altitude and dramatic temperature swings between day and night concentrate the grape's inky, spiced character.
Tasting Room and Bodega Tours
Most visits end in a guided tasting of two or three local DO Yecla wines poured by knowledgeable staff who can pinpoint which hillside vineyard each bottle came from — a level of specificity you rarely get at bigger wine regions.
Ask about the combined ticket that includes a walk through the adjacent working bodega, where you can smell the toasted oak barrels and watch the bottling line in action during harvest season (September–October).
