Belvédère de Rozé
Perched above the Grande Brière marshes, the Belvédère de Rozé delivers a sweeping 360-degree view over one of France's most otherworldly wetland landscapes. At dawn, when mist rolls across the reed beds and herons stand motionless in the water, it feels like the edge of the world.
What you'll see
From the raised platform you can pick out the network of canals — called curées — that crisscross the Parc Naturel Régional de Brière, along with the thatched-roof île de Fédrun floating in the distance.
In summer, purple loosestrife and yellow irises line the water's edge, painting the scene in vivid colour, while in winter the flooded plain becomes a mirror reflecting dramatic Atlantic skies.
Getting there & timing
The belvédère sits right beside the lock and boat-hire jetty at the hamlet of Rozé, reachable by car via the D50 from Saint-Malo-de-Guersac in under five minutes — park for free at the quayside.
Arrive before 8 am in July and August for the best light and to beat coach parties; the platform is open and accessible at all hours, year-round.
