Restaurant Le Sérac, Saint-Gervais
Tucked into the centre of Saint-Gervais, Le Sérac has earned a loyal following among both locals and alpine cognoscenti for its intelligent take on Savoyard classics — think Reblochon tartiflette elevated with smoked duck, and house-made diots sausage in white wine. The dining room looks straight up toward the Mont Blanc massif.
The Menu
The kitchen leans hard into regional ingredients: Beaufort fondue arrives in a copper pot with cornichons and charcuterie from the Arve valley, while the raclette service uses wheels sourced from a single farm above Les Contamines. Portions are generous without being overwhelming.
In summer, a lighter menu of lake fish from Lac Léman and salads dressed with walnut oil from the Chartreuse region sits alongside the mountain classics, giving the restaurant genuine year-round appeal.
Atmosphere and Service
The interior mixes exposed stone with pale pine, striking the balance between rustic and refined that the best Savoyard restaurants manage. Tables are well-spaced and the noise level stays low enough for conversation — a rarity in a ski-resort town.
Service is knowledgeable about the wine list, which focuses on Savoie appellations: ask for a carafe of Apremont or a glass of Mondeuse rouge to accompany the charcuterie board.
Booking and Timing
Reservations are strongly advised for dinner in July, August and the February ski school holidays. Lunch is more relaxed and often features a shorter, better-value prix-fixe menu.
The restaurant is a 2-minute walk from the main square on Rue du Mont Blanc; look for the carved wooden sign above the door.
