Playa de Navia
Navia's own town beach is a broad, clean arc of golden sand backed by low dunes and green headlands — and because it faces the full force of the Atlantic, it draws surfers and wild swimmers as readily as sunbathers. Best of all, it's a five-minute walk from the town centre.
Beach Character
The beach stretches roughly 600 metres and is rarely as crowded as the beaches near Gijón or Llanes, even in August, giving it a genuinely local, unhurried feel.
Waves are consistent enough for bodyboarding and longboarding; a small surf school operates here in summer if you want a lesson with a board rental included.
Around the Beach
The promenade behind the dunes has a handful of chiringuito-style bars serving cold Asturian sidra (cider) and bocadillos — order a bocadillo de calamares and eat it watching the surf.
The coastal path heading east from the beach leads within 20 minutes to the quieter Playa de Frexulfe, a wilder cove almost entirely enclosed by cliffs.
