Enzo Ferrari Museum (MEF)

Modena is the hometown of Enzo Ferrari, and the museum built over his actual birthplace is as theatrical as the cars inside. Zaha Hadid's undulating yellow hood-shaped roof alone is worth the trip.

Inside the Collection

The permanent hall rotates a curated selection of Ferraris spanning eight decades, from pre-war Corsa racers to the latest hypercars, all displayed under dramatic spotlighting that makes the red paintwork glow like embers.

A dedicated section reconstructs Enzo's modest childhood home and workshop, giving the machines an unexpectedly human backstory. Personal letters, early sketches and period photographs line the walls between the gleaming bodywork.

Planning Your Visit

The museum sits in the Largo Garibaldi district, a 15-minute walk from the historic centre, and pairs perfectly with a morning at Modena's cathedral before lunch.

Combined tickets with the Museo Ferrari in Maranello (12 km south) are available and include a shuttle bus — a worthwhile upgrade for anyone who wants to see the factory town as well.

Don't Miss

Temporary exhibitions here have showcased Formula 1 championship cars and one-off concept prototypes not displayed anywhere else; check the MEF website before you arrive to catch whatever is on.

The museum shop stocks officially licensed scale models, prints and books that are genuinely harder to find online, making it one of the better souvenir stops in the city.
