Moto Guzzi Museum (Museo Moto Guzzi)

Mandello del Lario is the birthplace of Moto Guzzi, and the brand's factory museum is one of the most thrilling industrial pilgrimages in Italy. Gleaming vintage bikes, racing legends and a living factory floor make this a must even if you've never ridden a motorcycle.

Inside the Legend

The museum sits inside the original 1921 factory on Via Parodi, right on the lakefront, and displays over 200 machines spanning a full century of production. From the 1921 Normale to the V8 racing prototype that terrorised the 1950s Grand Prix circuit, every machine is a sculpture in chrome and steel.

Guided tours weave through the working production line — you can watch engineers assembling engines by hand, a rare glimpse into Italian craftsmanship that most factory tours simply don't allow. The smell of oil and the clatter of tools make history feel very much alive.

When to Visit

The museum opens to the public only on Saturdays, so plan your Lake Como itinerary around that single precious day. The annual Moto Guzzi Open House weekend in September draws thousands of riders from across Europe and transforms the whole town into a rumbling, leather-clad festival.

Arrive early — the Saturday tours fill up fast and the factory floor section closes once the morning group is full. Booking ahead via the official Moto Guzzi website is strongly recommended, especially in summer.
