Parque de la Cubierta

Parque de la Cubierta is Leganés's great green lung — a sprawling landscaped park built over a buried motorway infrastructure that gives it an unexpectedly level, open feel. On a clear winter morning the Sierra de Guadarrama floats on the horizon like a painted backdrop.

Walking and Cycling Routes

A wide central promenade runs the full length of the park and connects to a network of cycling paths that extend into neighbouring Getafe and Fuenlabrada, making it a genuine green corridor through the southern metropolitan area. Rental bikes are available at the Leganés BiciMAD docking stations near the park entrance.

The park's planted zones mix Mediterranean pine, holm oak and ornamental cherry, so spring visits reward walkers with unexpected bursts of blossom alongside the evergreen backdrop.

Family and Leisure Facilities

A large children's adventure playground anchors the northern end of the park, while outdoor gym equipment is scattered along the main path for adults wanting a workout with fresh air. On weekend afternoons the park fills with picnicking families and impromptu football games that give it a joyfully lived-in atmosphere.

The park also hosts the city's open-air summer cinema series in July and August — check the Leganés city council website for the annual programme and bring a cushion.
