Torre del Parco Rooftop & City Walls Walk
For a city this ornate, Lecce is surprisingly short on official high viewpoints — which makes the elevated walk along the surviving stretch of medieval city walls near the Castello di Carlo V, and the rooftop terrace of the Torre del Parco hotel, the insider's answer. The payoff is an unbroken panorama of baroque bell towers and sun-bleached terracotta rooftops.
The Castle Ramparts
The Castello di Carlo V sits at the edge of the historic centre and its exterior walkway is freely accessible. Climb the sloped ramp to the bastion corners for a wide-angle view south over the city's roofscape, with the bell tower of the Chiesa dei Santi Niccolò e Cataldo visible to the northwest and the dome of Santa Croce peeking above the medieval lanes.
The castle itself houses rotating cultural exhibitions and is worth the small entry fee — but even if you skip the interior, the exterior circuit around the moat gives you a strong sense of the city's layered history, from Roman amphitheatre to Norman tower to Spanish fortress.

Several of Lecce's boutique hotels in converted palazzi allow non-guests to access their rooftop bars in the evening for the price of a drink. Patria Palace Hotel on Piazzetta Riccardi has one of the most celebrated terraces, looking directly across to the facade of Santa Croce as the stone turns from gold to deep amber after 19:00 in summer.
For a free alternative, the raised garden terrace of Villa Comunale park on Viale 25 Luglio gives a pleasant elevated view north over the city's periphery and is a favourite evening stroll for locals.
