Mirador del Cerro de San Jorge
A short drive or 30-minute walk from the city centre, the hilltop of San Jorge rewards you with a sweeping 180-degree panorama that stretches from the rooftops of Huesca's old town all the way to the snow-capped peaks of the Pyrenees on clear days. It's the view locals keep to themselves.
The View and When to Go
On crisp winter mornings after a cold front clears, the Pyrenean skyline — including the distinctive silhouette of Monte Perdido and the Ordesa massif — appears so close it feels theatrical. Sunrise here in spring is genuinely spectacular, with alpenglow turning the peaks pink above a mist-filled valley.
In summer, come in the late afternoon when the heat softens and the cathedral tower catches the golden hour light below you. The contrast between the warm stone city and the distant white peaks is the defining Huesca photograph.
Getting There and Around
The hill is accessible via Calle de San Jorge on foot or by car, with a small free car park near the summit cross. The path is paved and suitable for most fitness levels, taking about 25 minutes from the old town.
Combine the visit with a walk through the adjacent Parque de Ramiro el Monje, a peaceful pine-shaded park that wraps around the hillside and has shaded benches for a picnic.
