Every Thursday morning the streets around the lower town fill with one of the liveliest weekly markets in the province, where farmers from the Sacco valley set up alongside clothing vendors and kitchen-goods stalls in a cheerful, unhurried sprawl. The food section is the heart of it: look for local pecorino aged in the hill villages of the Ernici mountains, bundles of cicoria selvatica (wild chicory) still earthy from the field, and jars of homemade peperoncino paste that locals use to fire up pasta all'amatriciana.
Vendors from nearby Ceccano and Alatri often bring their own olive oils — tasting is expected, and a litre bottle of cold-pressed Ciociaria extra-virgin rarely costs more than €8–10.

The clothing and household section sprawls toward Via Aldo Moro and is a treasure hunt for hand-embroidered linen tablecloths, the kind that would cost five times as much in a Rome boutique.
The market winds down by 13:00 sharp; combine your visit with a coffee at one of the nearby bars on Piazza Martiri Pennati, where locals decompress over a cornetto and recap their bargains.
