Best Trails to Walk
The PR-CV 147 summit trail starts at the Font de la Forada picnic area off the CV-736, climbs through rosemary and pine scrub past a natural rock arch (the 'forada') and reaches the summit cross in about 2.5 hours one-way — take water, the mountain is dry.
For a gentler outing, the Camí de Molins coastal path from Les Rotes beach skirts the southern foot of the massif through carob and wild olive trees, passing abandoned windmills and delivering views of the Illes Medes marine reserve below.
Wildlife and Wildflowers
Spring (March–May) is the prime season: the hillsides blaze with Spanish broom, wild orchids and rockroses, and Bonelli's eagles and peregrine falcons nest on the northern cliffs — bring binoculars.
The park is also home to one of the last wild populations of the endangered Valencian rock lizard (Iberolacerta valentina), found sunning on limestone outcrops near the summit ridge.
