Dénia Castle (Castell de Dénia)
Rising straight from a rocky promontory over the old town, Dénia's 11th-century Moorish castle is the city's defining silhouette — and the view from its ramparts stretches all the way to Ibiza on a clear day. It is far more than a ruin: inside you'll find a proper archaeological museum, Almohad palace remains and a walk-through history of the town from Romans to Christians.
What to See Inside
The Museu Arqueològic de la Ciutadella occupies the old governor's palace and displays finds spanning two millennia, from Roman amphorae to Moorish ceramics — the collection is small but beautifully curated.
Don't skip the Torre del Consell, the square Christian tower grafted onto the Moorish walls; climb it for a 360-degree panorama that takes in the Montgó massif, the port and the open Mediterranean.

Arrive just after opening to beat coach groups and linger on the eastern wall as the morning light turns the sandstone honey-gold — this is the shot every photographer chases.
