A Ciudad Real institution since the 1960s, Miami Park on Ronda de Ciudad Real has fed generations of locals on honest, generous Manchegan cooking — the kind of place where the pisto manchego is made from scratch each morning and the wine list is almost entirely Valdepeñas DO. It's the antidote to tourist-menu mediocrity.
What to Order
Start with the gazpacho manchego — not the cold Andalusian soup but the hearty game and flatbread stew that is the region's true signature dish, thick with partridge or rabbit and unleavened torta bread soaked into the broth.
Follow with migas manchegas, breadcrumbs fried in lard with garlic, chorizo and grapes — a dish that sounds humble and tastes extraordinary — or the slow-roasted lamb shoulder (paletilla de cordero) that falls from the bone with no encouragement.
Atmosphere & Booking
The dining room is large and unpretentious, with white tablecloths and the low hum of Spanish family lunches on Sunday afternoons — this is not a place that performs rusticity, it simply is rustic.
Reservations are strongly advised for Sunday lunch, which is the city's social centrepiece and books up well in advance, especially during the Semana de la Caza (hunting season) in autumn when game dishes are at their peak.
