Architecture & History
Construction started around 1380 under the patronage of the Crown of Castile, blending late Gothic structure with Renaissance touches added over the following two centuries — a timeline you can read in the shifting styles of each chapel.
The soaring three-nave interior houses an exceptional gilded altarpiece and a revered image of the Virgen del Prado, the city's patron saint, drawing pilgrims and art lovers in equal measure.
