Konoba Kolona
Tucked one street behind the quieter Tiha Bay, Konoba Kolona is the kind of place that earns its reputation purely through honesty: the owner is both the fisherman and the cook, so what lands on your table was in the sea that morning. Locals pack it for a reason — and the prices are kinder than anything on the main promenade.
What to Order
The menu rotates with the catch but reliable stars include lobster sold by the kilo, mussels buzara (slow-cooked in white wine and tomato), octopus carpaccio drizzled with local olive oil, and a black cuttlefish risotto that is deeply, properly Dalmatian.
Two large covered terraces mean you eat outdoors without worrying about the Adriatic sun or a passing shower. The indoor room is cosy and stone-walled for cooler evenings — ask for a table on the upper terrace for the best sightline over the bay.
The Local Ritual
Arrive early for lunch or book ahead for dinner in peak summer — word has spread and tables fill quickly despite the slightly hidden address. A carafe of house white, poured chilled, is the correct accompaniment to almost everything on the menu.
Finish with a small glass of homemade rakija, offered gratis at many Dalmatian konobas as a digestif. At Kolona it arrives without being asked, which tells you everything about the hospitality here.
