Piset Restaurant
Tucked just off the main road into Cape Panwa, Piset is the kind of neighbourhood seafood restaurant that regulars guard jealously — rated among the very best in the area on Tripadvisor with over 200 reviews, yet still packed with local Thai families rather than tour groups. The Thai fish cakes, garlic-pepper prawns and fresh-catch curries are the real reason to come to this part of Phuket.
What to Order
The menu is a roll-call of southern Thai seafood classics: whole fish grilled with lemongrass, stir-fried morning glory with oyster sauce, tom yum goong with fat river prawns, and massaman curry that has been simmering since morning.
The soft soufflé pancakes have become a cult item among regulars — an unexpected but delicious way to start a late breakfast before heading to the beach.
The Atmosphere
The dining room is simple, clean and air-conditioned — a welcome relief on a hot afternoon. Service is friendly and the staff are used to helping non-Thai speakers navigate the menu.
Prices are firmly mid-range, making Piset an excellent counterpoint to the resort dining rooms nearby. Come hungry and order more than you think you need — portions are generous and the food travels well.
Getting There
Piset sits approximately 1.9 miles from the tip of the cape, making it a natural stop on the drive in or out. It is best reached by scooter or car; there is parking on the street outside.
The restaurant is popular with locals at lunch and dinner — arriving slightly early (before noon or before 6:30 pm) is the easiest way to guarantee a table without a wait.
