Khao Khad Views Tower (Panwa Viewpoint)
Perched on a hill above the cape, this free two-level tower delivers the most complete panorama on Phuket's southeastern coast — Chalong Bay, Koh Lon, the Big Buddha on its distant ridge, and on crystal days, the limestone karsts of Phang Nga Bay. It is the kind of view that makes you understand the whole island at once.
What You'll See
The tower's upper deck sweeps through every compass point: Phuket Town and Rang Hill to the north, Makham Bay and Taphao Island to the south, Ao Yon Bay and Lone Island to the east, and Wat Chalong's golden spire glinting to the west.
Sunrise is a genuine reason to set an early alarm here — the eastern orientation means the sky ignites directly in front of you, something no west-coast viewpoint can offer.
Getting There & Around
The tower sits off Sakdidet Road on the drive into the cape; it is signposted and has a car park, making it an easy first or last stop on any Cape Panwa day trip.
A short walking path from the base connects to the Panwa coastal promenade, where gazebos face the sea and street-food vendors appear after dusk — combine both in a single visit.
Practical Tips
The tower has bilingual information panels in Thai and English that explain the geography below, so it is more than just a photo stop.
Crowds are thin compared to Phuket's famous western viewpoints, meaning you can take your time without jostling for position.
