Le Palais des Festivals et des Congrès
Every May the world's most glamorous film festival transforms this concrete landmark into the epicentre of cinema, but the Palais is worth a visit any time of year. Step onto the Boulevard de la Croisette side and plant your hands in the celebrity handprint slabs embedded in the pavement outside.
The Red Carpet & Allée des Étoiles
The 24 broad steps leading to the Grand Théâtre Lumière are the most photographed staircase on the Riviera — outside festival season you can climb them freely and pose where Cate Blanchett and Pedro Almodóvar have stood.
The Allée des Étoiles (Alley of Stars) stretches along the building's perimeter, lined with hand-imprinted plaques from directors and actors dating back to the 1980s. Hunt for prints from Meryl Streep, Francis Ford Coppola and Spike Lee.
Guided Tours & Practical Access
The tourist office runs occasional behind-the-scenes tours of the main auditorium and backstage corridors — book through the Office de Tourisme de Cannes at least a week ahead, especially in summer.
Even without a tour, the ground-floor foyer is publicly accessible on non-event days, and the adjacent Port de Cannes offers a perfect backdrop for photos with the Palais in the distance.
