Platja de Can Pastilla & the Playa de Palma Promenade

Can Pastilla anchors the quieter, more laid-back western end of the legendary Playa de Palma — a sweeping arc of fine golden sand that stretches all the way to S'Arenal. Shallow, glassy water and a palm-lined promenade make this the kind of beach you planned to visit for two hours and leave four hours later.

The Beach Itself

The sand here is soft and golden, and the bay shelves so gently that you can wade out a long way before the water reaches your waist — making it genuinely safe for small children and nervous swimmers alike. The bay's natural curve shields it from strong waves, so the surface stays mirror-calm through most of the summer.

Can Pastilla sits at the Palma end of the 5-kilometre Playa de Palma, and reviewers consistently note it is the calmer, less frenetic stretch of the bay. The beach is cleaned each morning, sunbeds and parasols line the sand, and lifeguards are on duty throughout the season.

The Promenade & Watersports

A wide, flat seafront promenade runs the full length of the bay, making it one of Mallorca's great cycling and walking routes — you can pedal all the way east toward Arenal or west toward central Palma without touching a road. Bike-rental outfits like Berganti Bikes and Can Velo Mallorca are right in the resort.

Throughout summer you'll find pedalos, paddleboards, windsurfers, jet skis and parasailing on offer along the front. The shallow, calm conditions make Can Pastilla one of the best spots on Playa de Palma for getting out on the water, whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned water-sports fan.

When to Come

June to September delivers classic Mediterranean beach weather, but May and October are the savvy traveller's sweet spot: the sea is still warm, the promenade is uncrowded, and you can actually find a sunbed without a 7 a.m. towel-dash. An evening stroll along the promenade as the sun drops behind Palma's skyline is unmissable at any time of year.
