Palma Aquarium
Just 500 metres from Can Pastilla's seafront, Palma Aquarium packs Europe's deepest shark tank, a jungle dome, tropical fish halls and a 3D cinema into one sprawling complex. It's the kind of place that surprises adults as much as it delights children.
What's Inside
The aquarium is divided into distinct zones: a tropical tank section, a jungle dome, outdoor areas with snack bars and playgrounds, and the headline act — the giant shark tank where up to 12 sharks cruise at close range. The ticket also includes a 3D cinema screening a short film about whales, which runs around 10–15 minutes.
Serious divers can book a supervised dive inside the shark tank itself — a bucket-list experience that the aquarium's trained staff manage with a strong focus on marine safety and animal welfare. You'll need a medical certificate to participate, so plan ahead if this is on your list.
Families & Practicalities
The outdoor park area is well laid out with shaded walkways, ray and sea-turtle tanks, and a play area that keeps younger children entertained while adults linger at the larger exhibits. The atmosphere is pleasant and well-organised, and the complex is large enough to fill a full half-day without feeling rushed.
The aquarium is located on Carrer de Manuela de los Herreros i Sorà, roughly a 5-minute walk or 2-minute drive from Can Pastilla's main beach strip. If you drive, show your entry ticket at the parking pay machine for a discount on parking fees.
Tips for the Best Visit
Book tickets online in advance during July and August — queues at the door can be long on hot days when beach conditions are less appealing. Visiting on a slightly overcast morning is actually ideal: the indoor exhibits are air-conditioned, the crowds are thinner, and you still have the afternoon free for the beach.
