Playa El Laguito & the Lagoon Walk
Tucked at the far tip of the Bocagrande peninsula, El Laguito is the neighbourhood's best-kept secret — a calmer, less-crowded crescent of sand where the sun drops directly into the sea and kitesurfers skim across Punta las Velas just offshore. It takes only ten minutes to walk here from the main Bocagrande strip, but it feels like a different world.
The peninsula's tranquil tip
El Laguito is named after the brackish lagoon that sits at the very end of the Bocagrande peninsula. The tall residential towers around it frame the horizon dramatically, but the beach itself sees far fewer vendors and far more space to spread a towel.
The sun sets almost directly in front of Laguito Beach for most of the year, making it one of the finest free sunset-watching spots in all of Cartagena — with the silhouette of Tierra Bomba island floating across the bay as a backdrop.
A bayside path worth walking
On the bay side of the peninsula, a waterfront path runs along the calm inner waters — popular with dog-walkers, joggers, and cyclists in the early morning. It offers a completely different perspective on Bocagrande: quiet, breezy, and local.
The beachfront spot El Muelle has a wooden deck right over the sand with solid food and cocktails — a low-key place to sit with a rum sour and watch the kitesurfers until dusk.
