Avenida San Martín Rooftop Bars & Bocagrande Skyline
Bocagrande's main artery, Avenida San Martín, is lined with high-rise hotels whose rooftop terraces offer some of the most photogenic urban-meets-Caribbean views in Colombia — a glittering ribbon of towers on one side, the open Caribbean on the other, and the silhouette of the walled city floating on the horizon. Sundowners up here are non-negotiable.
The view from the top
Several of Bocagrande's major hotels open their rooftop bars to non-guests, and the panorama is worth every peso of the cocktail price. You get the full sweep of the peninsula — the beach strip to the west, the calm inner bay to the east, and on clear days the colonial bell towers of the Ciudad Amurallada glowing in the distance.
The Movich Hotel's rooftop bar is one of the most celebrated in the city, pairing craft cocktails with a pool and a 180-degree view that takes in both Bocagrande and the old city simultaneously.
Street-level San Martín after dark
Once the sun is down, Avenida San Martín shifts into a different gear entirely. Shops, boutiques, bars and open-air restaurants spill onto the pavement, and the strip fills with a mix of Colombian holidaymakers and international visitors — louder, more festive, and more local-feeling than you might expect from such a polished address.
For a free viewpoint that requires no cocktail budget, the bay-side promenade along Carrera 7 gives an unobstructed look across the Bahía de Cartagena towards Manga island and the port — particularly beautiful in the blue hour just after sunset.
