Playa de Levante
Stretching nearly three kilometres along Benidorm's eastern flank, Playa de Levante is one of the most visited beaches in Spain — and for good reason. Its calm, shallow water, fine golden sand, and relentless sunshine make it a textbook Mediterranean beach day.
What Makes It Special
The beach faces southeast, which means it catches morning light beautifully and stays warm well into the afternoon. The water is protected from Atlantic swell by the headland, so it stays almost pool-calm on most days — ideal for families and paddleboarders alike.
A long palm-lined promenade, the Paseo de Levante, runs the full length of the beach and is packed with chiringuitos, ice-cream stalls, and sun-lounger rental outfits. Blue Flag status is maintained every year, a reliable marker of water quality and beach management.
Beyond the Sunbathing
The northern end of Levante near the port area is the quietest stretch — arrive early and you can claim a patch of sand before the crowds build. Pedalos and kayaks are rented from several points along the beach for around €10 per half-hour.
Snorkelling around the rocky outcrops at either end of the beach turns up wrasse, sea bream, and the occasional octopus hiding in the crevices. Bring your own mask or rent one from the water-sports huts.
