Bardolino Thursday Lakefront Market
Every Thursday morning the entire Bardolino lakefront transforms into one of the liveliest open-air markets on Lake Garda, with stalls stretching from the harbour through the historic centre. It is the single best place to shop, snack and people-watch like a local all in one go.
What to Expect at the Stalls
The weekly Bardolino market runs every Thursday morning from around 8am to 1pm, spreading along the lakefront and through the historic centre with clothing, leather goods, local food, wine stalls and artisan produce. Arrive early to find the best selection of seasonal fruit and vegetables, local cheeses, cured meats and freshly pressed Garda extra-virgin olive oil.
Look out for stalls selling Bardolino DOC and Chiaretto di Bardolino rosé by the bottle — buying directly from small producers here is both cheaper and more memorable than any wine-shop purchase. Local honey, jams and dried herbs from the moraine hills also make excellent, packable souvenirs.
Shopping with a View
A visit to the market is also an excellent opportunity to enjoy a walk along the lakeshore — the stalls are arranged so that you shop with the glittering blue expanse of Lake Garda to one side and the pastel facades of the old town to the other. It is one of the most photogenic market settings in northern Italy.
After browsing, settle at one of the lakefront cafés for a cappuccino and a cornetto while the market buzzes around you — this is quintessential Bardolino morning life, and it costs nothing to enjoy.
