Fun Friday Avenue Market at Boat Avenue
Every Friday evening, the open-air walkways of Boat Avenue in Cherngtalay transform into a lakeside night market that feels more like a European street festival than a typical Thai bazaar — fairy lights, live jazz, craft stalls, and serious street food, all in one.
The Market Atmosphere
Every Friday from 4 pm to around 9–10 pm, Boat Avenue transforms into a colourful and bustling lakeside plaza filled with live music, delicious food stalls, boutique pop-ups, and a welcoming community vibe. Expect fairy lights strung between stalls, wine by the glass, and families mingling with digital nomads and in-the-know travellers.
Children play on the lawn while live jazz or acoustic sets float from the central stage — it's a far cry from the overwhelming chaos of bigger Thai night markets, with a relaxed, neighbourhood energy that keeps you lingering long after you've eaten.
What to Eat & Buy
The food is the main draw: grilled satay, sweet coconut roti, mango sticky rice, fresh fruit smoothies, and seafood cooked to order. Handmade soaps, woven baskets, and hand-stamped silver jewellery fill the craft stalls in between.
The market sits right next to Villa Market supermarket — a large store stocked with imported goods and an impressive wine cellar — so you can top up your villa provisions in the same visit.
The Wider Boat Avenue Complex
Beyond Friday nights, Boat Avenue is Bang Tao's main lifestyle hub: an open-air complex with dozens of restaurants, boutique fashion stores, and wellness centres spread across more than 30,000 square metres. The quality across the board is higher than most shopping areas in Phuket.
Don't miss Tu Kab Khao at adjacent Porto de Phuket — a branch of the Michelin-listed southern Thai original from Phuket Town — or SōL Phuket, the lakefront all-day dining project of Michelin-starred Chef Top Russell, opened in late 2024.
