Bang Tao Beach — The Full 6 km Arc
One of the longest beaches on Phuket's west coast, Bang Tao sweeps in a generous crescent of soft white sand facing the Andaman Sea — wide enough that you can always find your own patch of quiet, even in peak season.
The Beach Itself
Bang Tao Beach is around 6 kilometres long and is known for its soft, white sand and clear turquoise waters, yet it remains a relatively quiet and peaceful spot compared to some of the more popular beaches on the island.
The northwest-facing shoreline means the sun sets directly into the Andaman Sea right in front of you — one of the most effortless sunset views in all of Phuket, no hilltop hike required.
North vs South: Two Different Worlds
The southern stretch is anchored by the Laguna Phuket complex — a self-contained enclave of luxury resorts including SAii Laguna, Angsana, and Outrigger, where guests share access to pools, spas, and even a golf course.
Head north and the mood shifts completely. The northern part of Bang Tao Beach has no resorts or restaurants and is peaceful and relaxed — local fishermen dock their boats here, and on Sunday afternoons families set up barbecues while children splash in the shallows.
Sunset & Beach Clubs
Bang Tao now has five beach clubs along its sand, ranging from low-key bamboo bars to full DJ-and-sunbed setups. Catch Beach Club is the most established; Beach Pig Phuket is a cool, casual spot serving tacos and cocktails — perfect for ending your beach day as the sky turns orange.
Calm seas from mid-October to April are ideal for gentle swims, while mid-year brings light surf that makes the north end a quiet surfer's playground during low season.
