Banff Farmers' Market at Central Park
Every Wednesday from late May through early October, the grassy banks of Central Park beside the Bow River transform into Banff's most convivial outdoor gathering — local vendors, live musicians, and the smell of fresh baking drifting past a backdrop of mountain peaks.
A Bow Valley Institution Since 2011
Founded by born-and-raised Banff locals Jolene Brewster and Rene Geber, the market was built on a simple idea: give the community access to locally grown food, genuine handmade goods, and a reason to gather outdoors. More than a decade on, it draws regional entrepreneurs and visitors alike every single week of the summer season.
Stalls overflow with fresh fruits and vegetables, artisan jams and honey, baked goods, jewellery, pottery, photography prints, locally made apparel, and beauty products. Prepared food vendors mean you can easily turn a browse into a full al-fresco lunch beside the river.
How to Do the Market Right
The market runs Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 201 Buffalo Street in Banff's Central Park — a five-minute walk from Banff Avenue. Live local musicians perform throughout the day, and there is ample lawn space to spread out a picnic blanket and linger.
Bring some cash as smaller vendors may not accept cards, and arrive before noon if you want first pick of the freshest produce and baked goods. The market is free to enter and sits right on the Bow River trail, making it easy to combine with a walk to Bow Falls.
