What to Look For

The cheese stall run by a local fermier typically offers three or four stages of Camembert ripeness — ask for 'bien fait' if you want the runny, pungent version that Norman purists insist is the only acceptable one.

Beyond the Food

A handful of stalls sell vintage postcards, old military badges and WW2 ephemera at prices far more reasonable than the souvenir shops on the main drag — patient browsers sometimes uncover original period photographs.

The market wraps up by around 13:00, making it a natural first stop before a seafront lunch and an afternoon at the museums.
