Marché de Sèvres – Place Pierre Brossolette
Every Tuesday and Saturday morning, Place Pierre Brossolette transforms into a proper Île-de-France street market where local maraîchers from the Seine-et-Marne bring vegetables still dusted with soil and fromagers wheel in wheels of aged Brie de Meaux. It's small enough to feel genuinely local but well-stocked enough to stock a week's larder.
What to Buy
The cheese stall run by a fourth-generation affineur is the market's anchor — ask for a ripe Coulommiers or a wedge of Brillat-Savarin and expect a five-minute passionate explanation of why the current batch is exceptional. Charcuterie from a Corrèze producer includes dry-cured saucisson and rillettes that pair perfectly with a baguette from the neighbouring bakery stall.
Seasonal vegetables dominate the central aisle: white asparagus in April and May, mirabelle plums in August, and cèpe mushrooms from September onwards. Prices are noticeably lower than equivalent Parisian market stalls across the river.
Timing and Practicalities
Saturday is the fuller day, with around 35 stalls versus roughly 20 on Tuesday. Arrive before 10:00 to get first pick of the best produce; by noon the cheese and fish stalls begin to pack down.
The market is a five-minute walk from Sèvres–Rive Gauche RER C station, making it an easy half-morning detour if you're combining a visit to the porcelain museum with a leisurely lunch.
