Plage de Passable
While the summer crowds converge on Paloma Beach on the eastern shore, many Cap Ferrat regulars quietly head to Plage de Passable on the quieter western side, facing the village of Villefranche-sur-Mer across a sheltered bay. The Beach Itself
The public section is a narrow strip of fine gravel that fills up by 10 am in high summer — arrive early, claim a spot near the ancient fig tree at the northern end, and you'll have a postcard view of Villefranche's ochre-coloured waterfront across the bay.
The water shelves very gently, making it one of the safest swimming spots on the peninsula for children. On calm days the visibility underwater is exceptional — even without a mask you can see the sandy bottom four or five metres down.
The Beach Club
The Passable beach club rents sunbeds, serves a proper Niçoise lunch menu (think tuna-stuffed socca, grilled daurade and a tarte tropézienne to finish) and pours a very respectable rosé. Prices are honest by Cap Ferrat standards — roughly €20–25 for a sunbed pair.
In the early evening, when the day-trippers have gone, the light on the Villefranche citadel turns deep gold and the bay goes glassy. It is one of the genuinely magical moments the peninsula saves for those who linger.
