Ciudadela de Pamplona

A Fortress Built for Kings
Philip II ordered the pentagonal citadel in 1571 to defend the gateway to Castile, and its five arrow-shaped bastions still read like a military textbook. Walk the full perimeter on the moat path and you'll pass through layers of carved stone gateways that once controlled every soul entering the city.
The interior parade ground hosts open-air concerts and art installations in summer, making it one of those rare places where military history and modern Navarran life genuinely overlap.
