Cerro de los Ángeles Viewpoint (desde Móstoles)
The low ridge on the southern edge of Móstoles offers one of the most underrated panoramic views in the entire Community of Madrid — a sweeping 180-degree arc that takes in the city skyline to the north and the rolling Castilian plateau stretching south toward Toledo. No coach parties, no entrance fee, just sky.
The View Itself
On a clear winter morning, after the tramontana wind has scrubbed the air clean, you can pick out the Sierra de Guadarrama's snow-capped peaks to the north, the glass towers of Madrid's business district glinting in the middle distance, and the dark silhouette of the Cerro de los Ángeles monument to the east — the geographical centre of Spain.
The ridge runs roughly parallel to the M-506 road on the southern fringe of the city. The best vantage point is reached via a short trail from the residential neighbourhood of Parque Coimbra, where the urban grid simply stops and the meseta begins.
When to Go and What to Bring
Sunset is the photographer's moment here: the low Castilian sun turns the plateau gold and the Madrid skyline silhouettes dramatically against an orange sky. Bring a wide-angle lens or make sure your phone's panorama mode is charged.
The trail is unpaved but flat and easy for any fitness level. A pair of trainers is sufficient; the walk from the last residential street to the best viewpoint takes about 12 minutes.
