Restaurante Ca'n Pep Mosso

Tucked just inland from the tourist strip on Carrer de Martí Ros Garcia, Ca'n Pep Mosso has been feeding locals and savvy visitors for decades with honest, generous portions of traditional Mallorcan cuisine at prices that feel almost anachronistic given the resort surroundings. The sobrasada-stuffed mushrooms alone justify the walk.

What to Order

Start with pa amb oli — thick slices of country bread rubbed with ripe tomato, drizzled with local olive oil and topped with cured meats or Mahón cheese. It sounds simple and it is, but the quality of the ingredients makes it revelatory.

For mains the tumbet (a slow-cooked layered vegetable dish with potato, aubergine and red pepper in tomato sauce) is the definitive Mallorcan vegetarian option, while the frit mallorquí — offal and vegetables fried with fennel and paprika — is the dish locals order to test whether a kitchen is serious.

Atmosphere and Timing

The dining room is undecorated and slightly noisy, with paper tablecloths and a chalkboard menu that changes with what the market offers that day. This is precisely the point — it is a working neighbourhood restaurant, not a tourist trap.

Lunch service runs from about 13:00 to 15:30 and fills up fast with Spanish families by 14:00. Arrive at opening or book ahead by phone; the staff speak enough English to take a reservation.
