Every Thursday morning the streets of Inca explode into one of the largest open-air markets in the Balearic Islands, drawing locals and visitors alike with stalls stretching across the Plaça d'Espanya and beyond. Leather goods, fresh produce, ceramics and flowers jostle for space in a glorious sensory overload.
What to Buy
Inca is the leather capital of Mallorca, so the market is ground zero for handstitched belts, bags and shoes at prices far below the island's resort boutiques. Look for the 'Fet a Inca' mark on stalls run by local workshops — it signals genuinely Mallorcan craftsmanship rather than imported stock.
Beyond leather, the food section rewards early risers with piles of sobrassada (paprika-cured sausage), ensaïmada pastries still warm from the oven, and honey from inland beekeepers who rarely make it to coastal markets.
Navigating the Crowds
Arrive before 9 am to beat the tour buses and secure parking near Avinguda del General Luque. The market runs until roughly 1 pm, but the best produce and the most patient vendors are found in the first two hours.
