Camí dels Molins (Trail of the Windmills)
A string of restored stone windmills crowns the low ridge just north of Inca's old town, linked by a signposted walking path that delivers sweeping views over the Raiguer plain toward the Serra de Tramuntana. It is one of the most photogenic yet least-crowded corners of inland Mallorca.
The Mills Themselves
Inca once counted more than a dozen grain-grinding molins de vent, and several have been carefully restored to show their original wooden sails and millstone mechanisms. The best-preserved cluster sits along Carrer dels Molins, where information panels (in Catalan, Spanish and English) explain how 19th-century millers worked the wind to feed the whole comarca.
Each mill has its own stone-walled enclosure, and the contrast of bleached limestone, rust-red soil and the distant blue silhouette of the mountains makes for a genuinely striking composition at golden hour.
The Walking Route
The full Camí dels Molins loop is around 2.5 km and takes under an hour at a leisurely pace, making it ideal as a pre-lunch stroll after the Thursday market. The path is well-maintained gravel and suitable for most fitness levels, though the final ascent to the highest mill involves a short stepped section.
From the ridge you can see as far as the Bay of Alcúdia on a clear winter morning — bring binoculars and a wide-angle lens.
