Val d'Europe Shopping Centre & Farmers' Market
Three stops east of Disneyland on the RER A, Val d'Europe is a vast Haussmann-inspired mall that most resort guests never discover – and attached to it, every Saturday morning, is one of the Seine-et-Marne department's best covered farmers' markets, stuffed with raw-milk cheeses, charcuterie, and seasonal produce from Brie country farms just minutes away.
The Saturday Market
The Marché de Val d'Europe sets up inside a dedicated hall adjacent to the shopping centre every Saturday from around 08:00 to 13:00. Vendors include a fromager specialising in Brie de Meaux AOP (the genuine article, made just 30 km east), a charcutier with house-made rillettes, and a honey producer from the Marne valley whose wildflower varieties are worth packing in your luggage.
This is a working market for local residents, not a tourist attraction, which means prices are fair and the produce is genuinely seasonal. Pick up a wedge of Brie, a baguette from the in-mall Maison Kayser bakery, and a bottle of Bourgogne from the Nicolas wine shop – instant picnic.
The Mall Itself
Val d'Europe is anchored by a LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and SEA LIFE Paris aquarium, making it a useful rainy-day backup for families. The mall's architecture deliberately echoes Haussmann's Paris boulevards, with cream-stone facades and wrought-iron balconies inside the atrium – oddly convincing for a 2000s shopping centre.
The outlet section, La Vallée Village (a short shuttle away in Serris), stocks discounted luxury brands from Longchamp to Lacoste and is worth an hour if retail therapy is your thing. Combined with the Saturday market, it makes for a genuinely local half-day away from the resort bubble.
