Castillogrande Peninsula Walk

Tucked beyond the bustle of Bocagrande, the slender Castillogrande peninsula is where Cartagena's well-heeled residents actually live — a grid of gleaming high-rises, wide clean sidewalks, and a bay-hugging boardwalk that most tourists never find.

A Peninsula Apart

Castillogrande is one of the most exclusive neighbourhoods in Cartagena, made up of just 16 seafront blocks connected to Bocagrande and home to three storied members' clubs: Club Unión, Club Naval, and Club Cartagena.

The streets follow a clean grid, the pavements are wide and well-kept, and the pace drops the moment you cross from Bocagrande — it genuinely feels like a different city.

The Boardwalk at the Tip

The pedestrian boardwalk along the peninsula's bay side is made for a slow walk at either end of the day, with the bay on one side and the Cartagena skyline on the other — a genuinely restful way to spend a morning close to the Old Town.

Local families walk, fish, and watch the sunset over the bay with the city skyline behind them; it is one of the neighbourhood's most authentic daily rituals.

Getting Around the Loop

A full loop around the peninsula from Playa Castillo Grande is only 3 km — easy on foot or by bicycle — and can be extended into a 7.25 km loop by continuing north along the lovely bay-side boardwalk toward Bocagrande.

Taxis and rideshare from the Walled Old Town take 10–15 minutes and cost roughly 10,000–20,000 COP depending on your starting point.
