Barracks Row: The Street Around It

Rose's Luxury sits on Barracks Row (8th Street SE), Capitol Hill's oldest commercial corridor, named after the nearby U.S. Marine Barracks. The street is lined with independent restaurants, bars, and boutiques that make for an ideal pre- or post-dinner wander.

Practical Tips

Rose's Luxury does not take reservations for most of its seats — the line forms outside before opening, and it moves faster than you'd expect. Arrive 20–30 minutes before doors open and chat with the other people in the queue; it's a very Capitol Hill experience.

If the wait is long, walk two blocks to Ambar on 8th Street for outstanding Balkan small plates and a bottomless brunch that is one of the neighbourhood's great weekend rituals.
