Lezat Beach Restaurant
Perched directly on the Candidasa waterfront, Lezat Beach Restaurant is the kind of place where a cold Bintang, a plate of grilled fish seasoned with sambal matah and the sound of small waves lapping the breakwater conspire to make two hours disappear without effort. It is the undisputed locals-and-regulars favourite on the strip.
Fresh Seafood Straight from the Jukung
Lezat's kitchen leans hard on the daily catch brought in by Candidasa's traditional outrigger fishing boats — jukung — so the menu shifts with what is freshest. Grilled prawns, calamari, whole fish and seafood platters are the stars, all prepared with authentic Balinese spices that stop well short of overwhelming the natural flavour of the ocean.
For non-seafood eaters the kitchen also turns out solid Indonesian staples like nasi campur and mie goreng alongside Western options including pasta and steak. The open-air setup means you eat with a sea breeze on your face and an unobstructed view of the small offshore rock islets that dot the Candidasa bay.
When to Go and What to Order
Sunset dinner is the prime slot — the sky behind the islets turns apricot and the restaurant fills with a warm, unhurried atmosphere that is the antithesis of Seminyak's beach clubs. Lunch is equally good if you want the same view with fewer people and more shade from the palm-thatch roof.
The grilled whole fish with Balinese sambal and a side of steamed rice is the dish most regulars return for. Round it off with a fresh young coconut and you have a meal that costs a fraction of what you would pay in Seminyak for a fraction of the authenticity.
