Dubai Water Canal Boardwalk
The 3.2-kilometre Dubai Water Canal slices through Business Bay, and the illuminated boardwalk that hugs its southern bank delivers one of the most photogenic skyline panoramas in the entire emirate. Come at dusk and watch the towers ignite in amber and violet while abras and superyachts glide past at eye level.
Walking the Waterfront
The pedestrian promenade stretches from the Tolerance Bridge all the way toward Safa Park, lined with palms, cycling lanes and al-fresco café terraces. Every hundred metres or so a new angle on the glittering Business Bay towers opens up, making it almost impossible to put your camera away.
The three landmark bridges — Tolerance, Happiness and Prosperity — are each lit with a different colour palette after dark, turning an evening stroll into an accidental art installation. Weekends draw local families, joggers and couples who settle on the stone benches to watch the fountain shows at the nearby Dubai Fountain extension.
Best Spots Along the Canal
The stretch just below the Opus Building designed by Zaha Hadid offers a dramatic foreground of the futuristic void-cube silhouette against the skyline — a favourite of architecture photographers. From here you can also see the Burj Khalifa framed perfectly between two residential towers, a composition that rarely appears on postcards.
For a different perspective, rent a pedal boat or hop on a water taxi from the Business Bay Marine Transit Station and see the boardwalk from the canal itself. The low water-level vantage point makes the towers feel genuinely colossal.
