Parque Fluvial del Río Arga
The Arga river shapes Burlada's entire eastern edge, and the linear park running along its bank is one of the most rewarding easy walks in greater Pamplona. Poplars, herons and the sound of fast water make it feel far wilder than its urban setting suggests.
The Riverside Trail
A well-maintained gravel path follows the Arga for roughly 4 km between Burlada and the Pamplona city park of La Taconera, passing under old stone bridges and through dense gallery forest of white poplar and willow. In spring the riverbanks are carpeted with wild irises.
Birdwatchers regularly spot grey herons, kingfishers and, in winter, black redstarts hunting along the gravel bars. The stretch just downstream from the Burlada footbridge is particularly productive at dawn.
Swimming and Picnicking
A shallow gravel beach forms naturally below the Molino de Burlada weir each summer, drawing local families for paddling and picnics from June to September. The water runs clear and cold — refreshing rather than warm, even in August.
Several flat grassy terraces above the flood line have been fitted with picnic tables and barbecue stands by the municipality, making this a favourite Sunday-afternoon destination for Pamplona residents who want greenery without driving far.
