San Vicente Boulevard & Brentwood Country Mart
San Vicente Boulevard is Brentwood's elegant spine — a wide, coral-tree-lined avenue of high-end boutiques, fitness studios and specialty grocers that feels a world away from the rest of Los Angeles. Anchoring its southern end is the Brentwood Country Mart, a barn-style shopping village that has charmed locals since 1948.
Strolling Brentwood's Most Beautiful Street
The wide median of San Vicente Boulevard is planted with gnarled coral trees that burst into scarlet bloom in winter and cast generous shade in summer — making it one of the most photogenic walking streets in all of LA. Boutique clothing stores, high-end fitness studios and specialty grocers line both sides, and the pace is refreshingly unhurried.
The boulevard leads naturally to the Brentwood Country Mart at 225 26th Street, a 30,000-square-foot open-air shopping centre designed by architect Rowland Crawford and first opened on 18 November 1948 in a quaint barn-like style that Brentwood residents have fiercely protected ever since.
The Country Mart: Brentwood's Living Room
Inside the Mart, a large central fire pit anchors an outdoor dining area surrounded by a curated mix of restaurants, cafes and boutique shops. It's the kind of place where locals linger over coffee on a weekday morning or gather with friends for an easy weekend lunch.
The Mart also hosts a regular programme of free family events throughout the year, cementing its role as the social heart of the neighbourhood rather than just another shopping destination.
